Year 10 Careers Day; Wednesday 18th April 2018Year 10 students participated in a structured Careers day on Wednesday 18th April, delivered by Inside Knowledge.
In the morning students met with industry experts from various sectors to learn directly, not only the range of careers that each industry has to offer but also how specific roles work on a day to day basis.
Some of the industries represented on the day were; Journalism, Marketing, Law, Sports Science, Horticulture and the TV & Film industry.
All of the trainers from Inside Knowledge have careers outside of their work within schools and we were delighted to have a Director of an award winning Media Company and also a current TV producer amongst the individuals from IK.
After lunch students were tasked in their House groups to the Enterprise challenge; Music Fest.
This activity, lead again by Inside Knowledge trainers, tasked students with developing leadership, team building and negotiating skills. All House groups were asked with direction, to develop a theoretical music festival on a brown field site, taking into consideration the local community, village, transport links, audience for the festival and the cost of running such a project.
Each team then pitched their proposal to a designated ‘council’ to receive feedback and guidance on presentation techniques, leadership and team work and how they conducted themselves during the process.
